Auburn University Masters and PhD Nutrition Programs

Auburn University (AU or Auburn) is a public university located in Auburn, Alabama, USA with over 24,100 students and 1,200 faculty members, it is one of the largest universities in the state. Auburn was chartered on February 1, 1856, the College of East Alabama Male, a private liberal arts school affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal Church South. In the year 1872 the college became the first state public university land grant under the Morrill Act and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1892 the college became the first school for four years in the mixed state. The curriculum at the university originally focused on the arts and agriculture. This trend was reversed in the direction of Dr. William Leroy Broun, who has taught science and traditional thought and the two disciplines have been important in the overall growth of the university and the individual. The college was renamed the Alabama Polytechnic Institute (API) in 1899, mainly because of Dr.Broun influence. The college has continued to expand, and in 1960 his name was officially changed to Auburn University to recognize the varied programs of education and major programs of a major university.
