CSU Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences
The mission of the Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences at CSU, Chico is to provide students with a broad educational background in the science of food and nutrition and foodservice management. The BS and MS degrees offered by the department will prepare students to apply their knowledge and skills to become competent and productive nutrition, food science, and foodservice management professionals.
The Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences is an integral unit of the College of Natural Sciences at California State University, Chico, and, in accord with the vision of the University we aim to create vital and collaborative learning experiences for students, who will appreciate and embrace the local, regional, and global communities of which we are all a part. The Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences further subscribes to the University's commitment to serving the North State community.
California State University
California State University (CSU) is one of the three public systems of higher education in the State of California, the other two being the University of California and California Community College system. It is made by the Trustees of the University of California. The State University system headquarters are in California 401 Golden Shore, in downtown Long Beach. The CSU system has 23 campuses and more than 417,112 students supported by 47,000 members of the faculty and staff. It is the largest primary system of higher education in the United States. CSU prepares about 60 percent of teachers in the state, 40 percent of engineering graduates, more graduates in business, agriculture, communications, health, education and public administration in all universities of California and colleges combined.In total, over half the bachelor's and master's third of the awarded each year in California are of the CSU.
