Florida International University, commonly known as FIU, is a public research university located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States, with its main campus at University Park. Florida International University is classified as a high-level research university with high research activity by the Carnegie Foundation, and is a research university in the forefront as designated by the Legislature of Florida. Founded in 1965, the FIU is the youngest university to be awarded a Phi Beta Kappa chapter of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, the country's oldest honor society academic. FIU offers 191 programs of study with over 280 majors in 26 colleges and schools. FRC offers many graduate programs, including architecture, business administration, engineering, law, and medicine, offering 82 master's degrees, 30 doctorates, and two professional degrees.FIU is one of the major universities of Florida graduate research, scholarships and more than 2,000 graduate and professional degrees each year. FIU is the 15th-largest university in the United States, the fourth-largest university in Florida, and the largest in South Florida. For fall 2009, total enrollment is 40,455 students, including 10,014 graduates
