The mission of the Nutrition Program in the Department of Preventive Medicine, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is to excellence in medical nutrition research and training on reducing risks for chronic diseases such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes goal . promoteThis is accomplished through epidemiological research, clinical trials and cohort analysis focused associated with the specific nutrients, dietary patterns, nutrition and lifestyle groups with health and behavior of various diseases.Emerging work in epigenetics, metabolomics, and dietary biomarkers offer potential for further assessment of gene-environment interactions.Outcomes of interest are: healthy aging, healthy pregnancy and a reduced risk of chronic disease throughout life on energy balance and optimal nutrient intake.
In coordination with the strong biostatistical, epidemiological and behavioral programs in the department, the Nutrition Degree Program have faculty with other faculties, the expertise in the design, implementation and evaluation of these studies together.Similarly, the Nutrition Program achieved within the entire university departments DPM and clinical environments to CORE facilities and other medical organizations conduct their work, research, recruit participants and to teach medical students, students and provide ongoing medical nutrition education in all areas of the campus.
