The University of Utah, also known as U or U, U, is a public university joint research in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. The university was founded in 1850, the University of Deseret General Assembly of the provisional State of Deseret, making it the oldest institution of higher education in Utah. It received its present name in 1892, four years before Utah became independent and moved to its present location in 1900. It is one of ten institutions that make up the Utah System of Higher Education. The university offers over 100 undergraduate majors and 90 graduate programs. Graduate studies include the SJ Quinney College of Law and School of Medicine, one of Utah School of Medicine. In 2008, there are 21,526 undergraduates and 6,685 students, 85% from Utah and 7% from foreign countries.

Strong foundations in clinical nutrition, nutrition education, and research methodology form the core curriculum. This program requires at least 63 semester hours of academic work including 16 semester hours in supervised practice in a variety of settings providing the equivalency of a dietetic internship. This program, in addition to providing a Master of Science degree, prepares the student to take the American Dietetic Association examination to become a Registered Dietitian. Graduates from the Division of Nutrition at the University of Utah consistantly exceed the national pass rate on the Registered Dietitian examination. Program Goals are to develop competent entry level RDs that are prepared to work in a variety of environments and prepare graduates who will progress to leadership roles in clinical nutrition and community dietetics and nutrition research.

Just over 10% of students live on campus. Athletic Teams academics, Utes, participate in NCAA Division I athletics (FBS for football). His football team has received national attention in recent years to win in 2005 Fiesta Bowl and Sugar Bowl in 2009. The university was established on
